Sports Performance and Fitness Coach

Jack Shangold

Job Title: Sports Performance and Fitness Coach

How long have you been at Beaver?

This is my first year!

Hometown: Middletown, NJ

Why athletics?

I grew up caring about sports more than almost anything else. Whether I was playing them, watching them, or talking about them, they were a huge part of my world. As I got older and got into training, I realized I'd found a way to combine those two passions. Athletics let me take everything I love about strength and conditioning and put it directly in service of helping athletes perform better in the sports they love.

What do you love about Beaver?

I'm brand new to the Beaver community, so I don't have years of history here yet. But even just going through the onboarding process, I've already seen how phenomenal this community is. From the people I've met to the way everyone talks about the school, it's clear this is a place that genuinely cares about its students and staff. I'm excited to be part of it.

Favorite part of the job?

My favorite part of the job is watching the growth that happens outside the weight room. Yes, athletes get stronger and more explosive, but the real reward is seeing that translate into confidence and self worth that carries into everything else they do. When a kid realizes they're capable of more than they thought, that shift in how they see themselves is what makes this work meaningful.

What is something you are looking forward to in the upcoming school year?

I'm most looking forward to is building a real community in the weight room. I want it to be a space where students push each other, support each other, and feel like they belong, not just a place to get stronger physically, but a place where relationships and culture get built too.

Fun Fact / Outside of Beaver — hobbies, interests, pets, favorite teams, etc.

I have a pet bunny named Wellington.
